The recently established study program, the Islamic Library, and Information (IPII) Department, the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo (FAI – UMPO), improved the good collaboration networks at home and abroad and applied in the human resource quality improvement. In 25 Maret 2021, the IPII FAI UMPO has conducted an International Seminar of Religion Islamic Series 3 (ISOIR#3) and virtual call for paper program with the theme “Innovation and Development in Library Information Science (in Education and Practice).”
The seminar discussed Islamic library, literacy, and information science that the materials were delivered by Irawati Setiawan, M.A., M.Sc from Texas A&M University at Qatar, Haslinda Husaeni, Ph.D from Teknologi Mara University Malaysia, Ida Fajar Priyanto, M.A., Ph.D from Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta, Amirul Ulum, S.Sos., M.IP from Indonesian Higher Education Library Forum (FPPTI) Jawa Timur, Dr. Wiji Suwarno, M.Hum from Library and Information Science Bachelor Association, and Ayu Wulansari, S.Kom., M.A from IPII Department FAI UMPO.
Haslinda Husaeni, Ph.D. from Teknologi Mara University Malaysia, in her presentation entitled, “The Collaboration of Research Development in The Field of Library and Information Science,” persuaded the IPII Department managers to conduct visiting lectures program and student exchange to Malaysia.
Over 258 participants followed the agenda, and 20 participants came from Ghana, Turkey, Malaysia, and Qatar. Meanwhile, the rest were from the educational institution (university and school), boarding school, and professional library and information association.
The Vice-Dean of the Islamic Studies Faculty, Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo, Sigit Dwi Laksana, MPd.I explained the ISOIR#3 purpose to provide experience and knowledge about Islamic challenges in morality crises. It aimed to encourage the contribution of lecturers, teachers, researchers, activists, and students to develop and disseminate talent, skill, and characters to elevate the Islamic education practitioners. “They should present, discuss, and arrange the recent research result in Islamic studies through multidiscipline of knowledge.
