The scientists from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) and Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) became the two of 58 Indonesian scientists who placed in the Top 2% World Ranking Scientist on Wednesday (20/10). As reported in Tempo.co, the Top 2% World Ranking Scientist was the names of scientists included in the 2% most influential scientist in the world. The data was published annually by Stanford University and Elsevier BV. Prof John Ionnidis, Jeroen Baas, and Kevin Boyack were the person in charge of rank. The scientific publications entitled “The data for Update Science-Wide Author Databases of Standardized Citation Indicators”.
Overall, the number of global scientists’ names included in the list was 159.648 people. All of them were selected from the number of citations in the scientific journals in the world. Therefore, they all include the most influential scientist in the world.
In 2020, forty Indonesian scientists placed in the Top 2% World Ranking Scientist. Hence, the increasing number of 58 people in 2021 would be an improvement. Furthermore, among the 58 influential scientists, there are two scientists from Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyahh Higher Education Institution (MHEI)s.
Firstly, Agus Setyo Muntohar is the Civil Engineer lecturer in Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). Secondly, Tole Sutikno is an Electrical Engineer lecturer from Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD). It became a prideful achievement for MHEIs, especially for both UMY and UAD scientists.
