Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD) is reopening the Scholarship Program for Palestinians in Batch II. CHERD organizes the program in collaboration with National Zakat Agency in Indonesia (Baznas RI), Muhammadiyah Institute for Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah (LazisMu), and through the Ma’had Islam Rafiatul Akhyar (MIRA) donation of Ustadz Adi Hidayat (UAH). The scholarship application will be accepted from June 6 to July 15, 2022.
From the previous batch, twenty-four Palestinian awardees participated in the scholarship program. One of them is Fathi Sulaiman A. Alrawagh, a Palestinian student studying for his Master degree in the Civil Engineering department at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) for two and a half years. It also includes the Indonesian language course for six months or one semester.
The scholarship program comprises two programs, a Master Program (2-years program) and a Short Course (1-month program). Both programs are divided into two batches involving various Muhammadiyah – ’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) in Indonesia.
The list of universities that joined the first batch comprised UAD, UNISA, Unismuh Makassar, UM Malang, Uhamka, UM Surakarta, and UM Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, in this second batch, MHEIs that follow the program increase for 23 institutions throughout Indonesia, including Sumatera, Java, Sulawesi, and Papua.
