“You (the freshmen) are now in the organization that organizes thousands of schools, 119 hospitals around Indonesia, and 23 National Heroes of Indonesia from Muhammadiyah. It indicates you are in the campus and organization that owns a remarkable tradition to be preserved in our hearts, thoughts, and actions”. That was a statement from Prof. Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.Si when delivering his remarks on the Student Orientation (Mataf) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) in Sportorium UMY, Monday (12/09).

The President of Muhammadiyah Central Board also added that in a valuable tradition, they should own several excellent characters. First, the noble characters (akhlaqul karimah) include Sidiq (truthfulness), Amanah (trustworthiness), and Fathonah (wisdom) whenever and wherever possible. Second, students’ ability to broaden their perspective with the knowledge that can bring them to be future intelligent activists. Third, students should expand their networks and roles. “Lastly, be a person who has maturity, self-responsibility, and to be dutiful and obedient to parents (birrul walidain),” said the UMY Professor of Sociology.

Prof Haedar also prompted 5,555 incoming students to consider Muhammadiyah as their foundation to live in Islamic civilization. By raising the theme “Prophetic Values Manifestation to Enlighten the Intelligent Person”, the student orientation was directly opened by the Rector of UMY, Prof. Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P., IPM.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang (UM Palembang) held a public lecture “Subsidies in State Budget Structure” on Monday (12/09). At the public lecture, Ir Romadhianah MEc, the Head of Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) in Regional Office South Sulawesi and Bangka Belitung became a speaker. The Rector of UM Palembang, Dr. Abid Djazuli SE MM delivered his remarks before the Public Lecture began. He was accompanied by the Vice-Rector, the Director of the Postgraduate Program, the Dean, the Vice Dean, and UM Palembang students.

Dr. Abid Djazuli SE MM explained that the Independent Learning and Independent Campus (MBKM) policy became a new learning model in Indonesia. One of MBKM’s novelty is to elevate the graduates’ quality in the higher education institution. Therefore, one of the improvements was through student and lecturer’s development in following the public lecture. “This public lecture directly invites experts. So the lecturer and students will understand directly from the experts about any issues,” she said, as reported on UM Palembang site. He added that this particular topic was a considerable topic for discussion in education.

Ir Romadhianah MEc invited all students and lecturers to understand the importance of tax payments in citizenship. “The construction of roads, healthcare facilities, education, and many other infrastructures come from tax,” she said. In addition, the tax potency has barely been tapped. Therefore, students as the next generation should raise tax awareness for all communities.

STKIP Muh Kalabahi cooperates with Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta by conducting the Public Lecture and assistance submission by Warsiti, M.Kep.Sp.Mat as the Rector of Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta (UNISA Yogyakarta) in the STKIP Muhammadiyah Kalabahi, Monday (12/09).

The collaboration highlighted human resource development, including the full scholarship for twelve students of STKIP Muhammadiyah Kalabahi who had achievements when they were studying. Besides the scholarship for the students, UNISA Yogyakarta also provided financial assistance to organize the learning process in STKIP Muhammadiyah Kalabahi.

Marzuki Galeko, S.E., M.Pd., the Chairman of STKIP Muhammadiyah Kalabahi highly appreciated the Rector of UNISA Yogyakarta and the team who visited and provided financial assistance for STKIP Muh Kalabahi. “This kind of support is what we expected to improve STKIP Muh Kalabahi initiation towards University,” he said.

Muhammadiyah Regional Board (PDM) Alor also mentioned the history behind the campus establishment in Kalabahi. “We put much effort although we faced a lot of inadequacies that encouraged us to establish Muhammadiyah campus in Alor,” said H. Husen Tolang, S.H., M.Pd. The establishment was started with the collaboration of the Universitas Muhammadiyah Kupang branch in Kalabahi. “From the branch of campus, we had the intention to establish our campus in Alor. So we had through everything to open for collaboration until we established STKIP Muhammadiyah Kalabahi,” he added.

Responding to the statement, Warsiti also explained the first steps in establishing UNISA Yogyakarta, from the Health Science College to University. It requires 53 years to stand and has passed through various experiences for improvement.

The public lecture was also conducted earnestly and continued by the discussion and experience sharing between the UNISA Yogyakarta team and Muhammadiyah Regional Board and its Autonomous Organization under the Regional Board in Alor, including the parents of beneficiaries who received a scholarship by UNISA 2023. Approximately 600 students of the Institute of Islamic Studies Muhammadiyah Sinjai (IAIM Sinjai) attended their first lecture for the new students in the 2022/2023 Academic year. It was located in the H. M. Amir Said Auditorium, Sultan Hasanuddin street, 20 on Monday (12/09).

The program was opened by the Rector of IAIM Sinjai, Dr. Firdaus, M.Ag. and at once, started the Open Senate Meeting for the Freshmen Inauguration that was followed by the IAIM Sinjai lecturers and Board members. “We are proud to welcome you, who recently has followed the Student Orientation (Masa Ta’aruf). I remind you to read a lot because it is the way to lead us to success,” said the Rector of IAIM Sinjai.

The first lecture was delivered by the Vice-Rector II for Student and Alumni Affairs, IAIM Sinjai, Dr. Muh Anis, M.Hum. Besides the first lecture, on this occasion, IAI Muhammadiyah Sinjai also announced the best Board members, including lecturers, education personnel, and structural officials in IAI Muhammadiyah Sinjai in the 2022/2023 Academic Year. It was selected based on the evaluation result from the Quality Assurance Institute (LPM) IAI Muhammadiyah Sinjai.

The best lecturers of IAI Muhammadiyah Sinjai in the Even Semester were Nurjannah, Harmilawati, Suriati, Muhlis, Ismail, Umar, Syarifuddin, Faridah, Takdir and Irmayanti. Meanwhile, the best structural officials were Amran AR, Harmilawati, Srianti Permata. Also, the best education personnel were Wahyuningsih, Nurlisah, and Fajar.

UM Gresik Student Orientation is Underway with Edutainment Concept

The 2022 Student Orientation, familiarly known as Masa Ta’aruf (Mataf), in Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UM Gresik) entered the second day on Saturday (10/09). Varied exciting programs from various parties were organized, including 53 student organizations; 32 student associations of departments; 18 student activity units; the Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM); the Student Executive Board (BEM); and the Student Representative Council. The parade was conducted on the grounds of the UM Gresik Building and the Sumbawa parking lot.

The tenth student associations of departments (HMJ) introduced their organization and the history of the study program to thousands of 2022 freshmen. Each HMJ presented its materials in 32 classes that had been prepared by the 2022 Mataf Committees. Besides the student organization and competencies in each department, varied games and performances from several HMJs warmly welcomed the freshmen.

Furthermore, the incoming students could also visit student activity units (UKM) stands located at the back of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik’s parking lot on Sumbawa street. Thousands of students with different chants visited the UKM stands that were hedged in tidy rows with fancy decorations.

Bima, one of the freshmen, admitted that he was grateful to join the 2022 Mataf UM Gresik that was beyond his expectation. According to him, the 2022 Student Orientation, besides presenting education, was also completed by amusing entertainment. “As new students, we are happy and never imagined that the orientation is not that awful. All programs made us proud and believed that studying in UM Gresik will bring success,” he said.

In Leadership and Personality Development, UMMU Rector Welcomes 1,000 Freshmen

Leadership and Personality Development Training Program (P2KK) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Maluku Utara (UMMU) was conducted for six days and managed to steal the public’s attention by organizing the closing ceremony in Ternate Landmark on Sunday (11/09).

The closing ceremony was attended by the Rector of UMMU and all academic civitas by organizing a fun walk and cleaning the Landmark and Gamalama market up for all participants. It was continued by handing over the participants by the Rector to the respective faculties.

Based on the Committee Chief’s report, 1,015 participants were involved during the program. “We designed the 2022 P2KK effectively because it became our first time appearing in public involving 1,015 applicants. From the applicants, 1,000 students qualified and passed (the P2KK),” he said.

Currently, the 2022 P2KK raised the theme “UMMU Raises, Enlightens Generation for Indonesia Development” by correlating the theme of the 48th Muhammadiyah National Congress (Muktamar) and the welcoming ceremony could become a starting point for a new generation of UMMU, especially Muhammadiyah. In his remarks, the Rector of UMMU appreciated the committee’s performance, because, besides to organize P2KK, they have another agenda, the animation of UMMU mosaics.

“P2KK was conducted for six days targeting the students to build leadership and personalities that become part of the requirements in the final assignment. Thank you for choosing UMMU as the place to study in four years ahead. Lastly, I appreciate the committees for their remarkable performance,” said the Rector. Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) officially received the Ministerial Decree from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for the Establishment of Doctoral Program in Management, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), UMJ. The Ministerial Decree was directly received by the Rector, Dr. Ma’mun Murod, M.Si accompanied by the Dean of FEB UMJ, Dr. Luqman Hakim, S.E. Ak, M.Si in the Sam Ratulangi Meeting Room of the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDikti) Regional III Office.

In her remarks, the Head of LLDikti Regional III, Dr. Ir. Paristiyanti Nurwardani, MP expected the Rector and the Dean of FEB UMJ could manage the Doctoral program effectively. “The Doctoral Program in Management FEB will graduate students who can compete. Also, the establishment of the doctoral program can elevate the UMJ qualities,” she said.

The Rector of UMJ, Dr. Ma’mun Murod, M.Si mentioned that to measure the best result and outcome in managing campus, besides the number of departments, it requires accreditation A or excellent and the establishment of a Master’s program and Doctoral program.

“It is not easy, especially to establish a Doctoral program. Because it requires good human resources, it requires two professors and three associate professors. It is not easy. So, when the Doctoral Program can be established from a university, it is a sign that a university manages in the right hand,” said Ma’mun, Friday (09/09).

As the Ministerial Decree of the Establishment for Doctoral Program in Management was issued, it became a prideful achievement for UMJ, especially FEB UMJ. Dr. Luqman explained that the operating permit is a shred of evidence that FEB UMJ has an important role to produce competent professionals and academics. It is related to the advancement of Indonesian economics through business development, management, and good governance of an organization. In addition, various FEB graduates in Bachelor’s and Master’s programs became key persons in companies and other reputable organizations. “So the Doctoral program will provide opportunities for the alumni and non-alumni to deepen and explore the novelty of management and business science,” he said.

STKIP Muhammadiyah Kuningan (STKIPMKu) held the Freshman Orientation program (Mastamaru) on Tuesday (06/09). The program was conducted in the northern yard of STKIPMKu and finished on Thursday (08/09). Four hundred and ninety new students followed the orientation program. It made Mastamaru STKIPMKu different from other orientation programs because the concept was similar to the Open Senate Meeting.

The Chairman of STKIPMKu, Nanan Abdul Manan officially opened the orientation with appreciation and a warm welcome. “We welcome all freshmen that currently become a part of STKIPMKu. I hope that you believe in yourselves and that you did not choose the wrong higher education institutions. We persuade you to be an excellent graduate in education, technology, and entrepreneurship. UMMI Launches Healthcare Clinic, Now Open to the Public

To support health care services on campus, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi (UMMI) launched a healthcare clinic for academic civitas, lecturers, students, and communities. Dr. Sakti Alamsyah, M.Pd, the Rector of UM Sukabumi directly launched the clinic accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Sukabumi, Dida Sembada; the Provincial Board of Muhammadiyah West Java; and the Chairman of the Daily Advisory Board. In his remarks, Sakti mentioned the launching was a starting point for UM Sukabumi in creating higher education that has a complete facility to support the academic civitas’ needs and generally for the communities.

“By the launching of the UMMI clinic, our campus has complete health facilities. It becomes a support infrastructure for the lecturers and students to regularly check their health condition in the Klinik Pratama UMMI ‘primary care’. Also, the communities can check their health here,” said Sakti when launching the UMMI clinic on Thursday (08/09).

Sakti also mentioned various services in the UMMI clinic, including health consultation, circumcision, minor surgery, nebulizer inhalation, oxygenation, cupping therapy, electrocardiogram, and modern wound treatment, and facilitating BPJS members to health services.

“Doctors, nurses, and pharmacists will serve in the clinic. We also try to elevate our clinic to be a health facility that facilitates BPJS members,” he said. For this occasion, Sakti hoped all communities and civitas academics of UM Sukabumi, both lecturers and students could access primary care to maintain their health.

“I hope UMMI Healthcare Clinic contributes to healthcare service improvement that is professional, safe, and affordable for Sukabumi communities and nearby, as a campus health service, preaching center, and worshiping medium to provide medical checkups. The UMMI clinic emphasized hospitality and safety in ensuring the services that prioritize the patients’ security to implement the vision and mission,” he said. During the launching, UMMI also provided free services for circumcision, wound treatment, and medical checkups.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) contingent for Pencak Silat, a martial art originated from Indonesia recorded their achievements at National Student Sports Week (POMNAS) that was held in West Sumatra. The coordinator of Provincial Student Sports Week (Pomprov) UMS, Nur Subekti, S.Pd., M.Or. mentioned that on Thursday (08/09), five UMS athletes passed the National Student Sports Week (POMNAS), Ahmad Muzaki and Arif Mubarok in art men’s double, Ginting Baharudin Putra competed in Men’s Class D, Amar Abdullah Dani competed in Men’s Class E, and Muhammad Ikmal Akbar competed in Men’s Class G.
