UM Jakarta Agreed To Collaborate with STIKES Muh Tegal

Slawi – The Rector of UM Jakarta, Dr. Ma’mun Murod Al-Barbasy, M.Si, signed the MoU with STIKES Muhammadiyah Tegal collaborating to improve Catur Dharma (four values) implementation of STIKES Muh Tegal in Muhammadiyah Da’wa Building in Tegal, Monday (14/03). The MoU signing procession was also attended by the tenth Headmasters of Muhammadiyah Elementary-Vocational High School in Tegal regency and city. The procession was witnessed by H. Arif Azman, the Chairman of Muhamadiyah Regional Board of Tegal, and Hendra Apriyadi, M.Pd, the Vice-Chairman of STIKES Muh Tegal.

Arief Azman highly welcomed the UMJ Rector’s program. He expected the program could benefit the Muhammadiyah schools’ development in the Tegal regency and city. “By several collaborative programs, I hope we can synergize to strengthen and act together,” said Arief.

Furthermore, Hendra Apriyadi, M.Pd added that the synergy and collaboration between UM Jakarta and STIKES Muh Tegal focused on education, research, and MHEI’s catur dharma development. “I hope it advantageous for STIKES Muhammadiyah Tegal’s improvement,” he said. After the signing procession, Dr Ma’mun Murod Al-Barbasy, M.Si expected that STIKES Muhammadiyah Tegal would progress well and becomes a highly qualified higher education institution. “We should encourage ourselves to improve Muhammadiyah service, especially in Muhammadiyah higher education institutions,” he said.

UM Gresik Agrotechnology Students Held Bakti Tani Program

The Student Association of Agrotechnology UM Gresik conducted Bakti Tani (Farming Service) program on Saturday (05/03). By the theme “Environmentally Aware, Nature Conservation”, the program was held for 2 days located in Babatan, Balongpanggang, Gresik. It started with inviting children to sow ornamental plants and conduct a drawing competition. Mrs. Yayuk, the Babatan Kindergarten headmaster highly appreciated the program.

“The drawing competition is highly advantageous in their early childhood. It can train and flex their fingers in a drawing. While planting an ornamental plant in the schoolyard can educate the children about environmental awareness and nature conservation,” said the headmaster on the UM Gresik site.

The procession growing the longan seeds and socializing cavendish banana cultivation was conducted on Monday (07/03) in Babatan village. The secretary of Babatan village, Tisno, explained that the farmers need knowledge and counseling. “I am, personally, so grateful by this Agrotechnology students’ program. It is so helpful in the agricultural sector in Babatan. The participants can plant the longan seeds, water the plants, and nurture them until they can produce abundantly,” said Tisno. Babatan village head, Toni Istiawan, also expected UMG could support other community education programs.

Syadat, Bakti Tani committee, mentioned that this program aimed to resolve the cultivating technique of cavendish banana. Afterward, Yoga, the Chairman of the Agrotechnology student association, appreciated all parties supported this program.

The Faculty of Law of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) held International Seminar in A.K. Anshori Hall, Friday (11/03). By the theme “The Concept of War in Islam and International Law”, the seminar was also attended by the Rector of UMP, Dr. Jebul Suroso; the Vice-Rector IV for Research, Innovation, and Human Resources Affairs, Dr. Anwar Ma’ruf; and various lecturers in Law Faculty. The International Seminar committee invited several expert speakers, Prof Dr. Mohd Hazmi from Universiti Sains Islam, Malaysia (USIM), Prof Jaco Backhuizen from University of Limpopo, South Africa, and Dr. Soediro, SH LLM from UMP.

In his remarks, the Rector of UMP, Dr. Jebul Suroso, appreciated the Faculty of Law for organizing the International seminar. “I appreciated the Faculty of Law that has managed this International seminar. It is important for our university to discuss International perspectives towards internationalization of the university,” said the Rector. He also expected that the participants could achieve extensive knowledge from the seminar.

The Dean of Law Faculty, Dr. Soediro SH LLM, in an interview, explained that the International seminar could elevate the quality and quantity so that UMP and USIM could have a great partnership. “We can enhance our quality by inviting guest lecturers, organizing student exchange program, collaborative and joint research between UMP and USIM. It was expected to create a great partnership,” he said on the UMP site.

Moreover, Prof Dr. Mohd Hazmi appreciated the invitation and warm welcome to the seminar. “We can observe the interaction between students, online participants, and an online presenter from South Africa. We also can see the students’ interest in the particular topic,” he said. Furthermore, he also mentioned the internationalization of Law Faculty UMP, and hope in the future, it can organize more seminars or other programs. “I pray for the success and hope it can be more seminars or organize Asian Classroom, the summer school program followed by all students in Asia,” he said.

UMSU Organized Workshop For The AIK Improvement

Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies (AIK) differentiate between the Muhammadiyah campus (MHEIs) and other campuses. AIK also serves as measuring the success of MHEIs. That was a statement for UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, when he opened the curriculum workshop of AIK, Wednesday-Thursday (09-10/03). Agussani explained that UMSU would establish Ilmu Falak (Astronomy) in the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) UMSU. By this establishment, it was expected to be an excellent program. UM Sumatera Utara has had modern observatories and facility development in Barus, Central Tapanuli. “We expected the permit of Ilmu Falak will be issued soon,” said Agussani.

By the theme “The Orientation of Academic Quality Improvement for AIK UMSU towards Outcomes and Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM), Prof Dr Sutrisno MAg, a member of Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD), attended the workshop. Fifty lecturers of UMSU from nine different faculties were also presenced. Prof. Sutrisno highlighted KH Ahmad Dahlan when establishing Muhamamdiyah, not only to increase the number of schools and higher education institutions but also to uphold Islamic values and realize fair and prosperous communities according to Allah’s approval. Muhammadiyah was established to disseminate the good deeds and prevent the bad (amar ma’ruf nahi munkar). He continued that UMSU becomes Muhammadiyah service based on Islamic values and Qur’an-Sunnah. “Therefore, we as leaders, lecturers, educators, and students of UMSU have to uphold Al-Qur’an and Sunnah guidance,” he said.

Related to the AIK standard for students, Prof Sutrisno mentioned that UMSU students on-campus or off-campus should make Al-Qur’an and Sunnah for guidance in their daily activities. For these circumstances, the AIK subject becomes essential. The Rector of UMSU expected this workshop could prepare UM Sumatera Utara graduates. In this workshop, the participants were divided into four commissions to discuss the latest AIK curriculum. The workshop results from the respective team will be discussed more on Thursday (10/03) and continued by the closing ceremony.

Three MHEIs Are Listed As Top Private Universities in South-East Asia

Another prideful achievement has been accomplished by Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs). Three MHEIs that comprise UM Malang, UM Surakarta, and UM Purwokerto are ranked as big 7 of Indonesia’s top private universities in South-East Asia of the AppliedHE version. AppliedHE is one of the rating agencies in the world that had released the ASEAN best campus on March 2022.

AppliedHE located in 20 Sin Ming Lane, Midview, Singapore, has selected over 700 private universities in ASEAN to be listed in the ranking process. Several criteria in the assessment process include teaching and learning, employability, and research. Also, it involved community engagement, internationalization, and institution reputation.

In the 6th position of ASEAN, the Rector of UMM, Dr Fauzan expressed his gratitude and intended to keep evaluating the variables that necessary to develop. “Undoubtedly, we need to improve the rank in the following years because university reputation is an important aspect. We also need to improve all services. The award becomes International recognition that also serves as a milestone for years,” said Fauzan in the written statement, Friday (11/03).

This award signified that UMM has accomplished a planned milestone, international competitiveness. “Sixth place in South East Asia becomes a prideful achievement. However, we can not be distracted, we should elevate various aspects that need to be improved. So that we can get maximum results, especially UMM world ranking,” said Suparto, the Rector Assistance for International Accreditation.

UMM was listed for 6th place in South-East Asia and 4th place in Indonesia by a 66,87 percent score. Moreover, AppliedHE also listed other MHEIs in 15th place (ASEAN) and 6th place (Indonesia rank) for Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) with 57,34 percent. It also placed Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) in 27th place (ASEAN) and 7th (Indonesia rank) with 36,19 percent.

UMSB Trauma Healing Volunteers Serve In Pasaman

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Barat (UMSB) released students who joined Trauma Healing Volunteers on Saturday (12/03). The volunteers would depart on Pasaman and West Pasaman. Thirty-five students divided into five people would be located in Kajai, Malampah, and Timbo Abu. All students who joined the Volunteering Team attended an official procession on the Third Campus UM Sumatera Barat.

In the procession, the Vice-Rector III UM Sumbar, the Dean of Engineering Faculty, the Coordinator of Sumbar Peduli, and the Third Campus academic civitas attended in the courtyard. Previously, the students have received preparation in various materials through Psychosocial training. They would undergo the practice from 12 March to 16 March.

The Vice-Rector III UM Sumbar, Moch Abdi MM, explained that UMSB students should maintain their own health. “Also, you should appropriately behave in the fields. Do not be a burden to be others’ responsibility. It can be managed if you all maintain your conditions,” said Moch Abdi MM, as reported on UM Sumbar site.

Afterwards, Moch Abdi also expected that the trauma healing program, conducted through Volunteer of UM Sumbar Students, could positively impact because it aims to decrease and diminish the trauma from disaster-affected communities. “I hope it will run well,” he hoped.

The Association for International Affairs Office (ASKUI) Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) and Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar (Unismuh) held the Workshop for International Credit Transfer (ICT) Proposal Arrangement in D’Prima Hotel, Panakkukang Makassar, Thursday (10/03). The meeting hosted by Unismuh was attended by all MHEIs in Indonesia. The ICT is a part of the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) policy. “This agenda becomes a medium for all International Affairs Office of MHEIs to arrange 2022 ICT proposal. It also serves as a partnership follow-up with external institutions in credit transfer for the student exchange program,” said the Chairman of ASKUI, Yordan Gunawan SH MBA MH.

ICT aimed to facilitate the students to strengthen and improve competencies with different study programs or the opportunity to study in an institution overseas. Yordan also mentioned the collaboration between ASKUI and a foundation in Thailand and several collaboration plans with notable State-Owned Enterprises in Singapore, Tamasek Foundation. “The collaboration we recently initiated was with Educational Attache in US Ambassador,” said Yordan.

The Deputy Chair of Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD), Prof Edy Suandi Hamid, explained that ASKUI MHEI has a significant role in encouraging MHEIs’ development. CHERD urged this association establishment to monitor International collaboration by the experts,” said the former Rector of Universitas Islam Indonesia.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) and Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) as a commitment to collaborate. The signing procession had conducted offline on Thursday (10/03) in the VIP Room of UMSU – Kapten Muchtar Basri street, 3, Medan.

The collaboration was related to implementing the Tridharma (three values) of higher education and Engineering Profession program establishment in Engineering Faculty UMSU. It aimed to strengthen the institutional quality and both national and international networking. Also, it can synergize Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) to support Independent Learning Independent Campus and excellent accreditation.

The Rector of UMSU, Prof Dr. Agussani, MAP appreciated the UMS visitation and collaboration. “Thank you for UMS Rector attendance in UM Sumatera Utara. UMS is a prideful campus for Muhammadiyah institutions from the human resource and networking aspects,” he said. Moreover, he also expected the collaboration can be expanded to faculties level.

“Related to establishing the Engineering Profession program, we agreed that the Rector UMS is the most suitable candidate to be the Advisory Board. Later, we can process the legal procedure from the Institution of Engineers Indonesia,” said Prof. Agussani.

STKIP Muh Kuningan Launched Application of Management Information System

The Institute for Teacher Training and Education Muhammadiyah Kuningan (STKIP Muh Kuningan) launched an Application of Management Information System (SIM) on Wednesday (02/03). The launch was organized by Quality Assurance Agency (LPM) and the Agency for Information Data System (SDI). The STKIP Muh Kuningan leaders attended the procession through Zoom Meeting. Later, the SIM application would be socialized to the lecturers and staff.

Basically, SIM is an application that covers various features for internal quality assurance activities. The features include, first, the performance contract feature. It facilitates the arrangement of performance contracts in every line through digitalization. Previously, the contract has been adjusted in Accreditation 4.0 rule. Second, the program feature serves as the program planning arranged by particular boards in realizing previous performance contracts. Third, the performance report feature presents a clear performance report recap based on PPEPP principles. The report also facilitates every structural leader in STKIP Muhammmadiyah Kuningan.

The Chairman of LPM, Nunu Nurfirdaus expected that the application launching would improve the quality assurance practice in STKIP Muh Kuningan. The application also ensures an excellent status in both Internal and External Quality Assurance systems. Because it requires prominent human resources and supporting advanced technology. “Through this SIM application, I have a high expectation on STKIP Muh Kuningan to implement good governance based on existing regulations. Set Emergency School, SARMMI Saves Pasaman Children’s Education

The volunteers of SAR Mapala (Student Association for Environmental and Adventure Activity) Muhammadiyah Indonesia (SARMMI) have provided an emergency school that collaborates with Teluk Bayur Padang Indonesian Navy. The collaboration was set for Pasaman earthquake-affected children.

SARMMI volunteers that involved in this agenda was four members of Mapala Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Barat (UMSB) comprised of Amelia Putri Suktan, Junita Tiara, Maisi Yesa Putri, Juni Lestari, and one member of Mapala Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau (UMRI), Muhatir.

Amelia explained that the earthquake caused the schools to close. Meanwhile, student motivation should be maintained, especially for children. Children’s education should be protected as an encouragement for the volunteers to provide emergency school. “Fifty students from Elementary and Secondary School followed this emergency school program. They are the victims of a natural disaster in Pasaman,” said Amelia.

The emergency school was conducted in SD Negeri 2 courtyard, Talamau district, West Pasaman, and the evacuation shelters in the palm plantation site in Lubuk Panjang, Jorong Kampung, Alang Nagari, Kajai, West Pasaman. In this palm plantation site, the emergency response center was also located.

“The school materials we provided in this emergency shelter are the basic comprehension materials by fun education learning method,” said Amelia. Both material and method were combined to conduct psychosocial assistance to vulnerable victims in a natural disaster.
