Baitul Arqom of MSPP Batch IV

Baitul Arqom of Muhammadiyah Scholarship Preparation Program Batch IV

Muhammadiyah Diktiltibang Council, in collaboration with Muhammadiyah Cadre Education (MPK) Council and LazisMu held Baitul Arqom of Muhammadiyah Scholarship Preparation Program (MSPP) Batch IV in Development of Quality Assurance for Vocational Education building (BBPPMPV) for Arts and Culture. The program, intended for Muhammadiyah cadres, aims to prepare for study abroad intensively and how to get the scholarship.

Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si, Rector of UM Surakarta, said that the policy regarding the rationalization of private education issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture in the future should be responded to positively. Including the number of private institutions with low quality and are headed for collapse. The rationalization is about the students and the qualified Human Resources (HR),, which can be seen from the quality or capacity of the Doctorates. He advised that the Muhammadiyah-‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (PTMA) not only increase the number of doctors but also improve the quality of doctors. “If MSPP Batch IV is only focused on study overseas, in the near future, the Council can innovate to develop the doctoral needs in the country,” he explained online (05/10).

As the keynote speaker and to open the program officially, Prof. Lincolin Arsyad explained that currently, what is required to be prepared to study abroad is the nature of being open-minded. Studying abroad is not only attending the lecture but also being able to see how other people and other cultures are. “You can look for the added value when you study abroad later,” he said. Prof. Lincolin continued, if observed in the COVID-19 condition, the current education map has changed. English proficiency is essential, especially with the rapid development of information technology. “In the future, we should control the world of information. Therefore, the opportunity to participate in the MSPP program is extremely beneficial and should be taken seriously and not to be wasted,” he said.

On the same occasion, Dr. H. Ari Anshori, M.Ag as MPK representative, advised that the participants who later succeeded in continuing their studies could return to Muhammadiyah. “Become a doctor, master, or professor, but don’t forget to return to Muhammadiyah,” he explained. Dr. Mahli Zainuddin Tago, M.Si as LazisMu representative, also said that the MSPP program brought many Muhammadiyah cadres to reach their dreams. “The fund is the mandate of ummat, so please focus entirely on participating in the program. Especially for ones who already know, you can share with other colleagues who had no opportunity participating in this program, “he explained.

First-Year PTMA Students Attended Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies Public Lecture

First-Year Students of PTMA Attended Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies Public Lecture

To discuss Muhammadiyah as a movement is likened to talk about Islam as fundamental values and Muhammadiyah ideals. That was a statement from Prof. Dr. KH. Haedar Nashir, M.Si. in the opening of Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies (AIK) Public Lecture, Monday (04/10).

Prof. Haedar stated Islam means submission, safe, peace, and divine. Submission means wholly submitting oneself to God naturally. Islam also means safe, which every Muslim and who learns Islam can get safety in the life of this world and the hereafter. Besides that, Islam also means peace. Learning, believing, and practicing Islamic values can bring to a secure life both in this world and in the hereafter. Islam also means divine and pure by practicing the pure values and divine energy on the mind and soul. These four values in worshipping Allah, which are submission, safe, peaceful, and blessed, should become a spirit in the mind and orientation practice in a lifetime.

Islam also contains aqidah ‘fundamental beliefs’ values, which believe in the oneness of Allah. By the aqidah values, someone will have a life principle as everyone who declares as Muslim has a clear foundation which not easily attracted by the life pleasure but also living a life in the world. Those are the importance of aqidah as a worship foundation. “So that we have to believe in our religion without condemning other religions,” he explained. Secondly, to practice what Allah commands by following what Rasulullah p.b.u.h. did. Thirdly, moral values are the way, the spirit, and the model of the act to practicing religious values. Fourth, muamalah duniawiyah values relate to the relationship between people and the environment of the universe.

Prof. Haedar also gave messages to the first-year students in PTMA all over Indonesia to be persons who love to learn. From an early age to the aged person in a lifetime, college students should continue to learn knowledge, religion, life lessons, and also be an autodidact. “The lecturers and PTMA leaders are the facilitators. The key to learning success is on yourselves. You should be a person who develops intelligence, mastering science and technology, and be professional,” he continued. Because Indonesia is still left behind in global competitiveness, students should become individuals with high responsibility and have above-average qualified competence. Because the student right now would be the future leader, they should not be careless and ignorant. They should be tenacious students and have a successful orientation in learning progress. “I hope the first-year students can make themselves religiously obedient, have a noble character, be intelligent, knowledgeable, independent, skilled students, and become people who are trustworthy and spread grace for the whole universe,” he concluded. Business Opportunities in Community Empowerment based

Opportunities of Community Empowerment-based Business

If we delay making decisions for business opportunities, it means that we will be wealthy when we grow old. Consequently, PTMA students should be open-minded, learn new insight and broaden the horizon that there are a lot of business opportunities that can be accessed and understood. Those were the statements of Muhammad Sayuti, Ph.D. on Muhammadiyah Diktilitbang Council workshop towards ‘Implementation of Independence Learning with Community Empowerment on Export-based Ornamental Plants Agribusiness ’ Saturday (02/10). The webinar was attended by Irfan Nugroho from Institute Pelita Desa and Cici Melati Rahmawati from Ornamental Plants Exporter student.

As a plant exporter, Cici Melita mentioned that the idea to start was the curiosity of a business that would empower the communities. “The option to develop the ornamental plants is because it can be the first item suitable to all communities, especially the Millenials,” he said. Indonesia is a tropical country that currently dominates 0,1% of the global market, which communities can cultivate. She and the team developed the business model Tengkulak Sholeh ‘Sholeh Middleman’ with a social enterprise model. Not only to consider how this business is running but also the advantage and impact on the community. “We also did some community assistance; after that, we supported the capitals and were responsible for all processes,” he explained. The marketing strategy includes digital marketing, joining International Expo, and creating overseas agent networks.

Irfan added that when PTMA students were deployed in community services (KKN), the students were also allowed to develop a business so that the students could develop the business and be a cultivator that can earn profits. Besides making profits, they also assist the community, which previously got training to be the Community Leader. “It was what we are doing, and we developed the independent learning concept. So that we can collaborate with any universities for business development later,” he said.
