Dr. H. Ahmad Amarullah, M.Pd reappointed as the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang and was officially inaugurated in UM Tangerang Auditorium, Monday (11/10). In his speech, Ahmad Amarullah determined to keep struggling in developing the universities by the optimal efforts and attempts.
For Ahmad, the reappointment was a form of belief from Muhammadiyah to realize the smart work, sincere work, comprehensive work, and hard work. As he led, he also had strong willpower that can create graduates who have high competitiveness, so that be ready to compete in the industrial world. “We targeted to increase the study programs in undergraduate and graduate programs. Certainly, the programs will result in the graduates’ readiness towards the industrial world. I assumed the community would conclude, then we will be acknowledged by the society with the students’ quantity in the pandemic,” he said.
The Vice Mayor of Tangerang, H. Sachrudin, who also presented at the inauguration, gave the Rector message to bring UM Tangerang to be a university full of innovation and advantage to all academia and Tangerang citizens in general. “By the contributions, many advantages for the community, especially to move forward in this situation,” Sachrudin said. He also hoped that amanah (trust) which Rector had can promote the education world in Tangerang city,” he said.
Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UMG) held Community Service Program (KKN) Result Exhibition, Friday (8/10) and Saturday (9/10). Located in the hallway of Engineering Building UMG, the organizer of the agenda was the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM) UMG, especially the Innovation and Incubation Division. In the exhibition, there were 24 booths consisting of 10 Regular program booths, 9 Thematic program booths, 1 International (Taiwan) program booth, 1 Internship program booth, and 2 Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) program booths. All of UMG program studies followed the Community Service Program for 40 days (for the Regular program) and 2 months (for the Thematic program).
The committee chairman of the Even Semester KKN UMG, Nur Cayhadi, SST., MM., explained that the students had the independence to decide the problem priority to provide the solutions in their KKN area. “For example, Cerme district has their surplus harvested milkfish (bandeng), but they faced the decrease of its selling price. Therefore, the students have the initiative to process the milkfish into innovative products,” he said. He continued, there is an innovative food product for Family Welfare and Empowerment (PKK) and the Youth Organization (Karang Taruna).
The fisheries students underwent the internship program to create innovative products of green shell cultivation with multi-years. The products helped Banyuurip Ujungpangkah community with this cultivation. The committee rewarded the 5 best booths in several criteria, including the theme suitability, the cleanness, the innovative products, and the program sustainability.
Nur Cayhadi hoped the community service program exhibition was continuing in the next year. “And I hope what students did contribute to the community and have a good impact,” he concluded on the official UMG site.
President of Muhammadiyah Central Board, Prof Haedar Nashir officially inaugurated Universitas Muhammadiyah Pekajangan Pekalongan (UMPP) Rectorate Building in its local campus, Saturday (9/10). Prof. Haedar explained that UMPP was an integral part of 164 PTMAs as Muhammadiyah services (AUM) through education. He assumed that the abundance of AUM not only existed but also became the best in each field because it is in line with Al-Qur’an commands to make Islamic society the best community.
Prof. Haedar hoped that the highest building in Pekalongan regency could create graduates who highly contribute by their studies. “Muhammadiyah certainly tried to build, establish, and develop, and this establishment never felt satisfied. That’s a sign of life,” he said as reported in muhammadiyah.id.
In her speech, Rector of UMPP, Nur Izzah, explained that the building construction took a year and 5 months. Meanwhile, the structure has been delayed for approximately 500 days due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This UMPP rectorate building consists of 7 floors with a total width of 4777 m square, and the budget total was more than 40 m. “The building becomes an icon of Pekalongan, apart from being the highest building, it has a unique shape. It had gone viral in social media, so-called as the headquarters of Avengers,” she said.
She hoped that this iconic building was not only physically strong but also intellectually powerful, which could contribute in the broader scope. The artistic side of the building is intended to beautify the appearance and is also an effort to become a comfortable place for learning. “The building became the supporting facilities because of the three additional study programs in UMPP,” she added.
Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) crowned a professor again achieved by Prof. H. Eko Priyo Purnomo, S.IP., M.Si., M.Res., Ph.D., as UMY Lecturer in Governmental Science. Bhimo Widyo Andoko, S.H., M.H. as Head of LLDIKTI V DIY Ad Interim, in his speech, hoped that the academic rank promotion could be motivation for the other Muhammadiyah youths. He also gave Prof. Eko a message to keep working on his academic works. Gebhy Novitha, Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT) student succeeded to get golden medal in Pekan Olahraga Nasional ‘National Sports Week’ (PON) XX Papua on 2021. The Sport Science UMKT was West Kalimantan province delegate in the female Individual of Anggar competition, Sabel category. Previously, Gebhy also won the gold medal in national cadet and junior last 2017 and Anggar International championship in Southeast Asia in cadet and junior category in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Moreover, as reported in Muhammadiyah.id, the silver medal in the Anggar competition was achieved by Anis Rahaddatul, who won the female Individual of Anggar competition, Sabel category. The Anggar team of West Kalimantan has succeeded to bag one gold medal and one silver medal in PON XX Papua 2021. Muhammadiyah Scholarship Preparation Program (MSPP) Batch IV Awardees attended the Closing Ceremony of Baitul Arqam MSPP Batch IV last Friday (8/10). The schedule was held in the Development of Quality Assurance for Vocational Education building (BBPPMPV) for Arts and Culture. The awardees were attended offline, while the program was also broadcasted on Diktilitbang Council Youtube Account.
The first schedule was to deliver the testimony from Awardee representatives. Rizal, one of the MSPP Batch IV Awardees, expressed his appreciation. The appreciation was for the facilitators, Muhammadiyah Diktilitbang Council, Muhammadiyah Cadre Education Council, and LazisMu for the opportunity to join the Baitul Arqam MSPP IV. He was also thankful to all Awardees for their enthusiastic and solidarity spirit during Baitul Arqam. Another awardee, Hardianti, continued to express her gratitude to UMY and UMS as they admitted the English proficiency training. Hardianti also gave her fellow Awardees messages to never give up and never quit to achieve their goals.

Dr. Mahli Zainuddin Tago, M.Si. from LazisMu expressed his appreciation to all awardees and the instructors. Universitas Muhammadiyah Buton (UM Buton) held a Webinar of the National Digital Literacy Movement last Monday (4/10) to encourage digital literacy implementation. The webinar was the first agenda in the webinar series, themed “Friendly da’wah to strengthen the national spirit.” The Vice Regent of Baubau, La Ode Ahmad Monianse presented as keynote speaker. The other speakers, Wardana MSi, UM Buton Lecturer; Safaruddin Yahya MPd, Institute for Islamic Studies dan Muhammadiyah UM Buton; Dr Hamzah, Editor in Chief of ButonMagz.id; and key opinion leader, Dr Fajar Junaedi, Communication Science Association of Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institution (PTMA).
La Ode hoped that the digital literacy agenda might develop the internet competence in the society, especially Baubau netizens on utilizing the digital media in the pandemic. “We need to do da’wah in the digital world because the young generations interact a lot in social media. Take advantage of social media so that young people are not misguided in using digital media,” he said. Afterwards, he also expressed his gratitude to UM Buton as the organizer.
Dr Fajar Junaedi admitted the agenda as the key opinion leader. He explained that digital media have to be filled with positive content to avoid the negative impact. To mark the 57th anniversary, UM Purworejo held social service (baksos) by delivering groceries to the local community, Monday (4/10). In addition, a hundred groceries packet were shared with the community and street vendors nearby the main campus, the 2nd, and the 3rd campus.
Dr. Umi Faizah, M.Pd explained that the groceries packet was shared with the internal campus community and the society nearby who previously had been given a coupon. The coupon was used to take the groceries. “This baksos activity is a series of the 57th milad. Besides the social service, the massive vaccination, national seminar, and sport tournament were also conducted,” the committee explained.
Rector of UM Purworejo, Dr. Rofiq Nurhadi, M.Ag stated by this baksos implementation; he hoped to forge a kinship and harmony with the societies. The first agenda was the informational presentation about Universitas Siber Muhammadiyah (Universitas SiberMu) by Dr. Bambang Riyanta, M.T., Rector of Universitas SiberMu. Dr. Bambang explained the establishment process, learning scheme, and information related to Universitas SiberMu. “At the beginning, the ideas of Universitas SiberMu establishment had become an initiative before the pandemic, as an anticipation of the educational orientation by prospective students,” he said.

Muhammadiyah Higher Education, Research and Development (Diktilitbang) Council held Baitul Arqam of Muhammadiyah Scholarship Preparation Program (MSPP) Batch IV, Tuesday, the first day (5/9). Since the agenda has been opened, MSPP Batch IV Awardees followed the first and second schedules. The first was ‘The Challenges of Indonesian Moslem’ dialogue with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sirajuddin Syamsudin, M.A., who presented online.
Prof. Din opened the dialogue by explaining there are ideality and reality gap towards the Indonesian Muslim community. “Islam qualified-people in several last decades is inclined, for example, there are a lot of Muslim scholars. However, the life and Islam community, in general, is not. Particularly, in the economic and education indicator,” he said. Prof. Din continued by mentioning demographic data of the total number of Muslims in Indonesia. It is counted for 86,7% of 260s billion Indonesian citizens. It means that the numerical majority does not balance the Muslim role and contribution in all national aspects. One of which can develop is the quality of Islamic education institutions.
The second schedule is Session 1 of Muhammadiyah’s character presented by Drs. H. Dahlan Rais, M.Hum. He explained that the excellent character of Muhammadiyah cadres could bring Muhammadiyah progress and prodigiousness. He inferred that Muhammadiyah characters are not KHA. Dahlan’s personality, but his reflection in all aspects. One of his main characters is KHA. Dahlan’s philosophy is continuously stated. Drs. Dahlan Rais read a line to MSPP Batch IV Awardees, “Humans die, except those who have knowledge. Educated persons are confused, except those who do good deeds. People who do good are worried, except those who are sincere.”
