Muhammadiyah Diktilitbang Council conducted a webinar “The Opportunities and Challenges in National Social Security Development” last Friday (27/8). The webinar invited several speakers, namely dr. Ibnu Naser Arrohimi S.Ag MMR, Advisory Board of BPJS Kesehatan; dr Andi Afdal MBA AAK, and Abdur Rahman Irsyadi MM. Meanwhile, Amika Wardana Ph.D. is the moderator on this agenda.

Previously, Muhammadiyah had conducted the social security mapping; however, it was still limited to BPJS Kesehatan. Nurhadi, Ph.D., in his speech, explained that community welfare became a critical issue to discuss by Muhammadiyah. The schemes of social protection and security have been ideas for government and society. “PTMA has potential to contribute to the development. For example, by research and resources,” he added.

Ibnu Naser explained the role of BPJS Kesehatan and the opportunity of community and academic organizations to participate in social security development. In this case, PTMA as the educational institution can give competence development, program development, and knowledge development. “Up to now, there are no higher education institutions which seriously develop the claim management skills. The question is, is PTMA capable of being a pioneer?” he concluded at the end of his presentation.

Then, Andi Afdal explained that the social protection mechanism of BPJS Kesehatan is gotong royong (mutual cooperation) spirit. It means that the role of the society and BPJS recipients keep paying the membership dues even though they were healthy. “The youth and women dominate BPJS Kesehatan. The millennials can play a role as the future leaders of BPJS Kesehatan and innovation activator,” he said.

PTMA has played a role in increasing the quality of BPJS Kesehatan through the collaboration of health facilities to ensure access availability and health service continuity. In addition, by optimizing the research. The opportunities exist, including, firstly, the synergy of the Open Journal System with the Corporate University of BPJS Kesehatan. Secondly, the synergy of Open Call for Research with the Deputy of Research and Information of BPJS Kesehatan. Thirdly, the syllabi development and teaching materials, Stadium Generale, Guest Lecture, and sharing.

UAD Pharmacy Doctoral Program Officially Established

UAD Pharmacy Doctoral Program was officially established after receiving the Decree of the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology about the establishment permit of The doctoral program of Pharmacy. The handover was conducted in the UAD Main Campus, Wednesday (25/08).

The doctoral program (S-3) of Pharmacy was the first establishment of Muhammadiyah- ’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (PTMA). It became the first Doctoral program in private universities in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

The handover was conducted by the Chief of Higher Education Service Institution (LLDikti) Regional V, Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, S.E., M.Com., Akt. towards the Daily Advisory Board (BPH) UAD Ir. Azman Latif and forwarded to the Rector of UAD, Dr. Muchlas, M.T. Rector of UAD then handed over to the Dean of Pharmacy, Prof. Dyah Aryani Perwitasari, M.Si., Ph.D., Apt.

Dr. Muchlas, in his speech, explained the issuance of the permit was a milestone of UAD. “It is a milestone for UAD, the doctoral program becoming the first in 60 years of UAD establishment. It makes UAD the university with a full-range academic program,” he added.

He hoped the establishment of the Pharmacy Doctoral Program could provide the outcome by creating many pharmacists who have made contributions to the nations and broader communities. “ I hope the Pharmacy civitas can provide the contribution to the nations and communities by the research and services, especially in the pandemic period,” he inferred.

Meanwhile, Didi Achjari explained that the UAD doctoral program (S-3) of Pharmacy was the 6th in Indonesia. He believed in the future, it could be a superior program because it would increase the number of professors. “The uniqueness of the knowledge development in the doctoral program of Pharmacy is a big deal. So that the future graduates will be equipped with the specific skills, including the knowledge development based on Industrial Revolution 4.0, the integration of Islamic value on the knowledge development by focussing on halal studies, this superiority will be the characteristic of UAD program studies,” he concluded. “UMY lecturer idea providing booth-cart aids with hygiene and attractive display helps me develop product branding to elevate the marketing,” Fitriana said. She was one of Micro Enterprises’ owners that achieved the community service activity from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). Munjiati Manawaroh conducted the program as one of the Management Department lecturers in the Faculty of Economics and Business, UMY, who carried out the community service activity in Kadipiro, Kasihan, Bantul Yogyakarta. The service was conducted in providing business management assistance.

Munjiati explained that the activity provides solutions in micro-enterprise management for businesses, especially in the Covid-19 pandemic. “The contribution of community partnership program was by conducting the management asisstance and directly benefiting to businesses of micro-enterprises, and the community in general, especially in economic and education aspect,” she said.

The booth-cart aids to support the business owners to develop the product branding. Because the booth also displayed the name of the business, the product picture, and the contact person to serve customers in ordering the products. They commented that the product had more hygiene with neat, clean, exciting packaging. The program implemented Higher Education Caturdharma from the UMY Management study program as part of the Muhammadiyah foundation. “We expect that the program will provide a lot of advantages for the micro-business,” Munjiati said on Sunday (08/08).

Universitas Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung (Unmuh Babel) held Coordination Meeting and Work Program Arrangement last Friday (20/8). The meeting organizer was the collaboration of several study programs, including Elementary School Teacher (PGSD), Physical, Health, and Tourism Science (PJKR), Mathematics (PMTK), and English Teacher (PBI). The four study programs were under the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP). The Vice-Dean I FKIP Unmuh Babel, Muhammad Eka M. Simbolon, MPd, attended the meeting. In addition, the Heads of PGSD, PJKR, PMTK, and PBI study programs also attended. They were Romadon ST MPd, Widati Amalin Ulfah MPd, Yudi Yunika Putra MPd, and Iful Rahmawati Mega MPd, respectively.

The Dean of FKIP Unmuh Babel, Yuanita MPd explained, as recorded in the official Unmuh Bangka Belitung site, the coordination meeting was conducted routine before starting the new academic year. Meanwhile, the purpose of the program arrangement was to have the same vision as the Study Program, Faculty, and University in general. FKIP also expected that the program arrangement, in the future, could adjust the existing learning requirement. She explained that the meeting also evaluated the previous program, to discuss the program should be repeated. Therefore, it was related to the excellence of each study program. “We need to manage the program according to the future development and need assessment,” she said.

Afterwards, Vice-Dean II FKIP Unmuh Babel, Ayen Arsisari MPd also explained several things about the activities that have been carried out. The evaluation of the programs was expected to measure the effectiveness of the activities that have been carried out to improve the branding and quality. “The current program on the Tridharma ‘three values’ implementation of Unmuh Babel, comprises education, research, and community service,” he added. Unimus Team of PKKM Grant Held Learning Media Webinar

Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) held Learning Media Webinar themed “To initiate ideas of hybrid learning in Higher Education” online, Friday (20/08). The webinar was a continuous series conducted by a team of Independent Campus Competition Program (PKKM) Grant collaborated with the Institute for Development and Quality Assurance of Education (LP3M) Unimus. The webinar aimed to respond to the complaint from the distanced-learning system with hybrid implementation by combining distance learning and face-to-face learning. 

In his remarks, Dr Samsudi Rahardjo appreciated the webinar on learning media with idea initiation in hybrid learning. “The hybrid learning process in a system to disseminate knowledge is important, especially lecturers who should be capable of using and mastering the new learning system, so it can produce documents to be student’s module,” he said. He expected the activity to share materials about the combination learning method (hybrid) applied in the Covid-19 pandemic and sustained in the future.

STKIP Muhammadiyah Kuningan agreed to build cooperation by signing the Memorandum of Understanding with Cisantana Village, Cigugur sub-district, Kuningan in the local village office, Thursday (19/8).

Also presented, Head of STKIP Muhammadiyah Kuningan, Nanan Abdul Manan, M.Pd accompanied by Vice Chairperson II of Asset and Human Resources Department, Hermawan, M.Si; Head of Community Services Institute (LPPM), Nana Sutarna, M.Pd.; Tio Heriyana, M.Pd; and the secretariat team. STKIP lecturer who lived in Cisantana, Rita Kusuma, M.Pd, also attended.

Nanan Abdul Manan expressed his gratitude to the village head and other officers. He ensured that STKIP and Cisantana could collaborate well in research, education, and community services. It also could strengthen both potentials,” he said. Cisantana Village is the largest village in Kuningan, with the existent potential in the agribusiness and the tourism fields. He hoped that they could learn and practice the implementation strategy of village potentials so the students could learn from that.

Nanan added that, shortly, there would be Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta student group, which has been collaborated with STKIP Muhammadiyah Kuningan, to do the thematics community services (KKN) in Cisantana. UM Sorong Conjoined Sorong Freedive Community To Fly National Flag Under The Sea

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong celebrated the 76th Independence Day of Indonesia uniquely. UM Sorong collaborated with Sorong Freedive Community to fly the national flag under the sea around Matan Island, Raja Ampat Regency. Eight professional freedivers with international certification conducted the waving of the national flag without diving-respirator equipment 17 meters deep. Seventeen meters demonstrated the date of Independence Day. At the same time, eight professional freedivers showed the month of August, and it was set to accomplish in approximately 76 minutes which celebrated the 76th Independence Day of Indonesia.

Teguh Hidayat Iskandar Alam, SKom, MT, the Head of the Collaboration and Business Unit Development Institute, explained the independence day was a historic moment to appreciate the freedom fighter. “The waving the flag in 17 meters deep under the sea in Papuan island is a reminder of the state’s struggle for independence,” he said.

Sorong Freedive Community Leader, Sumardi, added that before the diving program, they need to prepare the physical fitness, understand the equalize, and master the diving technique. The most crucial aspect is mental preparation due to the immense pressure under the sea. “We are the professional freedivers, it was an extreme process and quite risky but still in the diver safety guidelines, especially diving in 17 meters deep. We also appreciated UM Sorong for the collaboration, we are really proud in this historical day, we have opportunity to wave the national flag due to our speciality,” he said.

The Rector of UM Sorong, Dr H Muhammad Ali, explained that this event was UM Sorong’s embodiment of love to the Republic of Indonesia and Papua Island as a part of  Indonesia. “We should prepare Papuan people to progress. We try to establish what Muhammadiyah founding father to keep benefiting others. I appreciate the team who prepare it well,” he said.

UMKO Equipped 302 Students For Community Service Program

Universitas Muhammadiyah Kotabumi (UMKO) held Community Service (KKN) Preparation online, Monday (16/08). The preparation was conducted online due to the UMKO support to handle the pandemic. Because the Covid-19 transmission increased in Kotabumi, Lampung Utara.

KKN UMKO, as reported on the official site, is a learning process that provides practical experience to the students. The experience includes the active contribution as students dedicated to the communities. Afterwards, the dedication involves techno-preneurship, Islamic value implementation, and local wisdom. It is part of the learning process, which is closely related to student fostering entirely. Moreover, the development and improvement of the community’s competence are included in the process. The KKN approach is participative, which allows the community to contribute more to the development process.

The Rector of UMKO, Dr Sumarno MPd, delivered his remarks at the meeting. Meanwhile, Vice-Rector I, Dr Didiek R Mawardi, SH, MH continued the agenda by providing guidelines for all participants of KKN UMKO 2021. He mentioned the purpose of the preparation, including providing insights, knowledge, skills, and techniques in carrying out the program.

Three hundred and two students followed this community service program, divided into various villages and governmental institutions. Undoubtedly, the KKN UMKO implementation followed specific considerations and, particularly, to apply the health protocol. This community service would be conducted in one month, 23 August – 23 September 2021.

The 76th Independence Day of Indonesia was on Tuesday, August 17th, 2021. Even though it’s still in the pandemic, Indonesia was hoped and prayed to be a formidable nation and always evolving.

At the same time, Independence Day coincided with the 64-year-old Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs)’ progress. Muhammad Sayuti, M.Pd, M.Ed, Ph.D., the Secretary of Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD), explained that 64 years was a long period for MHEIs to educate nations’ life. “The hard work was marked with the establishment of the excellent campuses, academic research achievements, and the superiority beyond the governmental campus supported by the state budget,” he said.

One of Muhammadiyah’s breakthroughs was being the first organization in Indonesia that got permit issuance of Higher Education Institution establishment overseas, which in Malaysia. “That was an achievement needed to record. However, the future challenges might be varied, and challenging in the national and international context,” he explained. Therefore, Sayuti expected that MHEIs not to stop to innovate, jihad ‘struggle’, tajdid ‘renewal’, put the hard work to improve Indonesian education through higher education institutions and to educate nations’ life in the Progressive Islam perspective. UMT Conjoined TNI-POLRI and Presidential Special Staff To Conduct Vaccination

Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang (UMT) held vaccination for the students located in the main campus, Cikokol, Tangerang, Friday (13/08).

In vaccination implementation, UMT collaborated with Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and Indonesian National Police (Polri) was also attended by Presidential Special Staff. The Rector of UMT, Ahmad Amarullah, explained that they supported vaccination in the educational environment to cut the risk of Covid-19 transmission. The Rector mentioned the readiness of UMT to conduct Covid-19 vaccination. “Alhamdulillah, the community obey the rules, no crowded places because we had set everything with all available equipment. So, we could support the government effort in stopping the Covid-19 transmission,” he said.

At the same time, as the plan of face-to-face learning, UMT currently prepares the hybrid method, both online and offline. “The face-to-face learning InsyaAllah will be conducted in a blended system. There are online and offline methods. We will arrange everything,” he said.

UMT is involved in vaccination sites from 14 locations in Tangerang City. The vaccination would be used Astrazeneca vaccines targeted for 1000 people to immunize.

Metro Resort Police of Tangerang, Police Grand Commissioner (Kombes) Deonijiu De Fatima, added that TNI and Polri were ordered to intensify the vaccination according to Presidential Order. “So the Chief of Indonesian National Police (Kapolri) create Vaksin Merdeka movement as the 76th Independence Day commemoration,”

He added, currently Polri held this Vaksin Merdeka starting from 1-17 August. “One implementation of this was a collaboration of all parties in Tangerang City, including religious figures, students, and college students. So, the Rector of UMT made a good decision for conducting this vaccination in UMT,” he said.

In his remarks, the Presidential Special Staff, Aminuddin Ma’ruf, expressed his gratitude to UMT for being the organizer of the vaccination program. Aminuddin also appreciated TNI and Polri, who worked hard on carrying out the vaccination tirelessly.

“Currently, TNI and Polri have no day off, whether it is weekend or national day. We conducted the vaccination every day. I expect that this hard work will result in stopping the Covid-19 transmission,” Aminuddin said.
