UMY Won 1st Place in SIMKATMAWA For National Private Universities

UMY Won 1st Place in SIMKATMAWA For National Private Universities

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) added another achievement in pandemic period. In 2021, UMY is ranked the top 10 national universities in the Management Information System of Student Ranking (SIMKATMAWA) organized by the Indonesia Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The achievement brought UMY to be the first winner in Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) and National Private Universities (PTS) in student achievements.

Currently, UM Yogyakarta moved up four places and is ranked top 10 universities that also surpassed UI. “To get this SIMKATMAWA achievement is uneasy. Although the student achievements were not significant enough in quantity, they had high values. For example, in 2021, UM Yogyakarta won a national movie competition, won National Student Art Week (Peksiminas), and became a champion in the robotic contest. I think if we compared with the other campus, UM Yogyakarta had high scales in the competition level,” said Faris Al-Fadhat, PhD, the Vice-Rector of Student Affairs and Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies.

The achievement was a collaborative work from various parties and result from a specific target. Faris explained that in a short time, UM Yogyakarta will maintain this top 10 university and also pursue to raise the rank. To maintain the accomplishment, UMY will activate a strategy reviving student activities outside the class to encourage student achievement. “Besides activating students activities outside the class, we also encourage the lecturers to involve in that activities. They should be great supervisors,” said one of the International Relations lecturers. [] UMY / CHERD

Firing Trials Concert of UAD Merapi Missile

Merapi Missile from CIRNOV Research Center Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) collaborates with Army Research and Development Office (Dislitbangad) reconducted Firing Trials in shooting range of Area Weapon Range (AWR) Air Force, Pandanwangi, Lumajang, Monday-Tuesday (27-28/12). The firing trials “2021 Year-End Concert” were collaborative works between CIRNOV and PT Dahana Company including the Aeronautical Technology Research Center of National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). The Quality Assurance (QA) process has been conducted strictly. The evaluation comprised the performance of the booster rockets, fin-tail and canard aerodynamics, seekers with an infrared, launched tube, and many others.

The firing trials result shows that the high consistency is related to the booster rockets, besides the 3.000 meters distance to the target. “ It is important for a basic reference in other synchronized subsystems from the whole missile,” said Prof Hariyadi as the team leader of CIRNOV. Also, the canard and fin-tail could open properly after launch in the launched tube to the target area marked with flare or an infrared light source brought by the flying drone. The firing trials result shows that all missile components were able to hold G-shock in 20G that occurs when the missile out from the launcher tube. The urgency of halal thayyiban was emphasized by Prof Elfi Anis Saati. “So far, Indonesian people tend to select tasty food to consume but forget about its safety. The Covid-19 pandemic should make people aware of the importance of food in elevating health conditions. In MHEIs, together, we should conduct researches about this,” said Elfi.

In his remarks, Prof Dr H Chairil Anwar, Deputy-Chair of CHERD, confirmed the importance of policies review in the halal product assurance implementation. “The issue (halal product assurance) is not only in Indonesia, but also becomes a global concern.
