UM Gorontalo Students Built Mosque in Diyonumo Island

Da’wah Study Service of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gorontalo (UM Gorontalo) Students built a mosque in Dionumo Island tourist attraction, Deme Dua Village, East Sumala, North Gorontalo Regency in 52 days by mutual corporations.

The mosque building was supported by Institute for Research and Community Service, UM Gorontalo leaders, and the surrounding communities who were involved in the mosque construction process. The Vice-Rector I UM Gorontalo, Prof. Dr. Hj. Moon Hidayati Otoluwa, M.Hum attended and officially established the Al-Bahri mosque. She also appreciated UM Gorontalo students in bringing the mosque came into existence. “Alhamdulillah, we had opportunities to officially build Al-Bahri mosque which was initiated by UM Gorontalo students,” she concluded. She also hoped that the mosque benefited the community and the tourists in Diyonumo. “ With the perseverance and sincerity of the community, we build the mosque. Hopefully, the tourists will be comfortable with the mosque’s existence, and more tourists will visit the Diyonumo. It potentially increases the village income,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Head Village of Deme Dua, Yusuf Talib highly appreciated to Da’wah Study Service (KKD) UMGO students who contributed and associated with the village administrators and community for 52 days. “Fifty-two days are not enough because the KKD UMGO is the best of the best, and they leave good deeds to the community and village administrators. The Shariah Banking Research of UMY Lecturer Won Achievement

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) Lecturer won an achievement in research. The UMY Economics and Business lecture, Dr. Dimas Bagus Wiranatakuruma SE MEc with Nurlaili Sukmawati won second place in General Category in Call for Paper competitions on Scientific Research Work ‘Karya Riset Ilmiah’ (KARISMA) last Thursday (28/10). The Institute for Financial Services Authority (OJKI) held this competition.

Both raised the issue of risk mitigation in the several contracts in Indonesia Shariah Bank. The research, as reported on the official UMY site, aimed to keep shariah banks’ ideal threshold to maintain the bank’s health. They explained that Shariah Banks have an essential role in driving the national economy through financing. It determined operational function from shariah banking. “Financing is a productive asset that is vulnerable to risk so that it can interfere with the operational function of shariah banks,” Dimas explained in the interview with UMY Public Relations Friday (29/10).

By the theme “Analysis of Measuring Optimal Portfolio in Shariah Banking Contracts in Indonesia”. The research object was the shariah banks, particularly the public shariah banks and shariah business unit, mudharabah, musharakah, murabahah, and istishna. The range of the study in the research was from 2004 to 2020 on a monthly data basis.

There are several aspects in the rating indicators. Firstly, the theme relevance aspect. Secondly, the content aspect impacted the financial service sector development in Indonesia. Thirdly, the originality of the writing. They both hoped that their research contributes to the policy and practical use of the operational shariah bank in Indonesia. “The research provides recommendations on how to keep banks in a healthy condition in various economic conditions by setting optimal thresholds,” Dimas, UMY Lecturer, concluded.

UMY and UAD Scientists Among World’s Top 2% Scientists

The scientists from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) and Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) became the two of 58 Indonesian scientists who placed in the Top 2% World Ranking Scientist on Wednesday (20/10). As reported in Tempo.co, the Top 2% World Ranking Scientist was the names of scientists included in the 2% most influential scientist in the world. The data was published annually by Stanford University and Elsevier BV. Prof John Ionnidis, Jeroen Baas, and Kevin Boyack were the person in charge of rank. The scientific publications entitled “The data for Update Science-Wide Author Databases of Standardized Citation Indicators”.

Overall, the number of global scientists’ names included in the list was 159.648 people. All of them were selected from the number of citations in the scientific journals in the world. Therefore, they all include the most influential scientist in the world.

In 2020, forty Indonesian scientists placed in the Top 2% World Ranking Scientist. Hence, the increasing number of 58 people in 2021 would be an improvement. Furthermore, among the 58 influential scientists, there are two scientists from Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyahh Higher Education Institution (MHEI)s.

Firstly, Agus Setyo Muntohar is the Civil Engineer lecturer in Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). Secondly, Tole Sutikno is an Electrical Engineer lecturer from Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD). It became a prideful achievement for MHEIs, especially for both UMY and UAD scientists. The fifty-eight Indonesian scientist placed in the Top 2% World Ranking Scientist as can be seen in the following.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) crowned a Professor of Mechanical Engineering (and other mechanics) last Monday (25/10). It was marked by the Ministerial Decree of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture Number 65067/MPK.A/KP.05.01/2021 about The Academic Functional Promotion of Lecture to Marwan Effendy ST MT Ph.D. Marwan Effendy ST MT Ph.D., recently, became a Professor in Mechanical Engineering (and other mechanics). As reported on the official UMS site, Marwan Effendy was a doctoral graduate of a London university. He was also active in research, community service, and other scientific association. In addition, he had recognized as a reviewer in a well-known Elsevier publishing in last 2018.

Two years ago, a lot of certificate forgery caused concern to all science and educational parties. Therefore, an Electronic Certificate Verification System to prevent certificate forgery in higher education institutions. That was the statement from Warsiti, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat as the Rector of Unisa Yogyakarta in her speech on the Socialization of National Certificate Numbering (PIN) Application Policy and the Electronic Certificate Verification System (SIVIL) in Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta campus Friday (22/10).

The agenda was conducted by the Directorate-General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology for the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. It was held according to increase PIN and SIVIL services in higher education institutions based on the Directorate of Learning and Students Affairs provision.

ITBM Bali Becomes The First Muhammadiyah Campus in Bali

Muhammadiyah expanded the da’wah spirit through education once more. It was marked with establishing the Technology and Business Institute ‘Institute Teknologi dan Bisnis’ (ITB) Muhammadiyah Bali with the Ministerial Decree of Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Number 449/E/O/2021.

The first Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institution (MHEI) establishment in Bali aims to create the Muhammadiyah generation as intelligent, militant, and energic cadres. As Chairman of Muhammadiyah Regional Board (PDM) Jembrana, Edi Susilo explained the establishment of the first Muhammadiyah campus in Bali as the support for Muhammadiyah Service (AUM) to create Muhammadiyah generation in more developed characters. Drs. Muhammad Bahirman, as the Daily Advisory Board of ITB Muhammadiyah Bali, mentioned the location selection of ITBM Bali in Jembrana because it is the oldest site in Bali and has enormous potential prospective students. “Jembrana is also near with East Java so that the assistance process of Muhammadiyah Province Board (PWM) East Java for ITBM Bali could be easily implemented,” he said.

At the same time, Muhammad Sayuti, as the Secretary of Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD), explained that the ITBM Bali establishment was time-consuming. “Roughly five years ago, I directly came to Bali to encourage and motivate the Muhammadiyah Province Board of Bali to have a higher education institution,” he said. Having the CHERD assistance, PWM Bali and MHEIs in East Java support, the establishment effort of ITBM Bali could be realized. “Muhammadiyah built campus with step-by step process from below legally and formally, not through the back door in establishing the campus. It is purely from Muhammadiyah goals in developing higher education institutions in Bali could be realized,” he concluded. UM Surabaya Focused to Tackle Stunting through Aikko Childcare Application

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya launched the Aikko Childcare application in the Anthropometric Health Corner activity in Surabaya last Sunday (17/10). The application aimed to overcome stunting in Surabaya. Head of Pediatrics Department of UM Surabaya, dr Gina Noor Djalilah SpAMM, explained that health science should develop and keep up with the times. Therefore, as reported on the official UM Surabaya site, they created a digital application to tackle stunting. Gina, the Stunting Acceleration Program Coordinator, explained that the application is beneficial to monitor child development. “There is a lot of information in the application. The Aikko Childcare also aimed to ease the users to anticipate if there is unexpected development of the children. Especially, it is related on the nutrition intake,” she said.

The parents could use this application to replace visiting a doctor in the hospital or joining the health checkup activity, especially in the pandemic. Gina also said that it was necessary for the parents who decided not to check their child’s health condition because of worried and afraid they could take advantage of this application. The targeted users of this application were the expectant mothers and parents who monitor their child’s development.

On the same day as Anthropometric Heath Corner, UM Surabaya also held the Sick Children Limited Treatment (Poseant Series 1). The activity was held in Bulak Multipurpose Building of Kenjeran Public Health Service. The activity also helps the parents to monitor the child’s development in the range of 0-5 years old.

Aikko Childcare could be accessed online on the official Aikkochildcare.com website. On the site profile, Aikko Childcare is an application that aims to decrease stunting cases in the high-risk targetted group. It includes the expectant mother, breastfeeding mother, and mother with a toddler. Aikko Childcare would help all the mothers provide the information about the growth and development after the form submission available in the application. ITB Ahmad Dahlan Conducted Workshop of Policy Paper Writing

The Institute for Research, Development, and Community Service of ITB Ahmad Dahlan Jakarta held the workshop on policy paper writing online Saturday (23/10). Seventy participants from Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions all over Indonesia attended the workshop. Presented as the resource persons, Dr. Tauhid Ahmad as the Executive Director of INDEF and Ahmad Muttaqin Ph.D. as the Treasurer of Council for Higher Education Research and Development of Muhammadiyah Central Board.

The implementation was based on the importance of research results, which impacted policy transformation and improvement. The policy transformation and improvement were needed for the wider community.

The workshop was focused on the research grant recipients of RisetMu Batch #5 in 2021. From those research results, besides the scientific publication output, there was the additional output that was expected from the researchers in the form of policy. UMSU National Seminar of Entrepreneur Highlighted Resilience

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) held the second National Seminar of Entrepreneur (SNK) themed “Small and Medium Enterprises Resilience in The Covid-19 Pandemic” last Saturday (23/10). The Center of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Incubator (PUSKIIBI) UMSU held this online seminar and broadcasted in the mini-studio of UMSU Postgraduate program, Damai street, Medan.

The seminar aimed to publish the research and community service results among lecturers, students, and practitioners. Vice-Rector III, Assoc Prof Rudianto MSi; Head of PUSKIIBI UMSU, Assoc Prof. Hj. Dewi Andriany and her team attended the seminar. Afterwards, the speakers, M Setiawan Kusmulyono MM and Mohammad Arkham Chaidar Jantra presented the materials in front of 175 participants in the virtual room of Zoom Meeting.

Rudanto delivered the speech, as reported on the official UMSU site. “This (UMSU) campus has an incubator room to produce and create tough entrepreneurs and businessmen,” he said. UMSU students had participated in entrepreneurial activities, even in the pandemic. For example, in the Indonesian Student Entrepreneurship Program (PKMI), Indonesian Student Micro-credentials (KMMI), Students Creativity Week (PKM), and any other entrepreneurship curriculums.

M Setiawan Kusmulyono said that Student Activity Units (UKM) should have the resiliency or the ability to deal with external challenges. One of them was Business Continuity Planning (BCP), which could ensure the enterprise could work in the crisis.
