Community Service Team of STIE Muhammadiyah Jakarta Optimizes LAZIS

The community service of the Institute for Economic Science (STIE) Muhammadiyah Jakarta held training in Cihanjawar Village on Saturday (4/9) and Sunday (5/9). Cihanjawar Village has a philanthropic agency for zakat, infaq, sadaqah (LAZIS), which has unsolved problems.

The organizational problem in the philanthropic agency was unable to reach the target of zakat assistance collection because of inefficient management. Meanwhile, the Cihanjawar community has a great potency to pay zakat. Seeing this condition, the community service team from STIE Muhammadiyah Jakarta fosters Cihanjawar Village. It aimed to the zakat collection management collaborate to the community service.

Nova Rini SE, MSi, the lecturer and committee chairwoman of the community service, explained that the schedule was not limited to the training, as reported on STIE Muhammadiyah Jakarta site. “The agenda was not only to conduct a training. But we also foster the Cihanjawar Village government to manage the LAZIS to be a professional and accountable agency,” he said. The training resource persons were the religious figures in the village accompanied by the STIE Muh Jakarta team, Nova Rini, Sutar, Ahmad Darda, and Bono Prambudi. The village government attended the training to organize the zakat, infaq, and sadaqah agency in Cihanjawar.

The local government of Cihanjawar Village, Bojong District, Purwakarta Regency, who becomes the community service partner, explained that they were very grateful with the schedule. The assistance of STIE Muhammadiyah Jakarta was the knowledge and comprehension improvement of LAZIS management to be professional and accountable. It becomes the assistance of the village government to manage LAZIS in Cihanjawar.

Prof Dr Masrukhi, MPd, the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus), inaugurated the freshmen on the Open Senate Meeting and the Freshmen Students Orientation year 2021/2022, Monday (06/09). There were 3.067 students inaugurated consisting of 34 first-year students of Magister Program (Postgraduate), 242 freshmen of Profession Program, 2.022 freshmen of Undergraduate Program, 327 freshmen of Diploma-IV, 329 freshmen of Diploma-III, and 48 students exchange from outside Java island involved in Independent Learning-Independent Campus program.

Prof Dr Masrukhi, in his remarks, appreciated the students for getting achievements even in the pandemic. “Even though the pandemic restricts people from doing a lot of activities, the limitation doesn’t affect us to do activities by adapting and anticipating the Covid-19 pandemic impact on getting achievements,” he said.

Moreover, the Rector also explained about Unimus-campus life. The students would be fostered and taught by the professional lecturers with their specialty to assist students in reaching their goals to be a Diploma, Bachelor, and Master. On the other hand, the students would also learn about leadership. “In Unimus, the students not only learned academically but also learned in the student organization. UMMAT Academic Civitas Underwent Second Dose Vaccination

Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram (UMMAT) held the mass vaccination for the academic civitas last Tuesday (31/8). UMMAT collaborated with Regional Police (Polda) West Nusa Tenggara to conduct this agenda. It was for the second dose injection, which targeted the UMMAT students, lecturers, and staff. H Anwar Ikraman Hall became the vaccination site by applying strict health protocol. There were 1.100 vaccination participants, including the first dose participants, who attended this activity.

The committee chairman, Hafsah MPd, said that the mass vaccination aimed to prepare the offline lecture. It was an anticipation for the ending of restrictions on community activities (PPKM). Moreover, the vaccination also became the requirement of graduation, community service (KKN), Baitul Arqam (cadre training), and many others. It also became essential to implementing the first-year student’s orientation to campus life (PKKMB). “Later, we should consider the restriction on community activities level. If there is no restriction, we could conduct several activities offline because the participants have been vaccinated. However, we should apply a strict health protocol,” he said as reported on the official UMMAT site.

Afterwards, Hafsah hoped that UMMAT reached 75% vaccinated academic civitas. The academic civitas included the lecturers and academic staff. UMM’s MoU Realizing The Poultry Professional Class

Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held MoU and MoA signing with several companies last Saturday (4/9). The companies including PT Sanbe Farma, PT Mensana, and PT Sapta Karya Megah in Grand Surya Hotel Kediri. The signing ceremony became the supporting form of the three companies to realize the Poultry Professional Class from UMM. The agenda also includes a commitment to run the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) by the Faculty of Animal Science.

The Rector of UMM, Dr. Fauzan M.Pd., also attended the signing ceremony. The partnership was essential to encourage the students to get job opportunities in a short time after graduation. “Besides being a commitment in realizing MBKM, the agenda also becomes the strategic way to the students,” Fauzan inferred on the official UMM site.

The Dean of Animal Science Faculty, Dr. Ir. David Hermawan MP IPM, explained that the three companies would be involved in the student practicum workshops. The purpose of this partnership is to reconstruct the study material according to industrial needs. “Hopefully, the practicum output will be a provision for students before taking a professional poultry class,” he said.

The three companies appreciated the partnership by signing the MoU and MoA. They hoped it might create the graduates of The Poultry Professional Class who are ready to work. According to them, it was better to increase the internship program instead of adding the skill training, which may not necessarily be absorbed by industrial work. By recruiting The Poultry Professional Class graduates, it is hoped it may cut the time and costs generally allocated to new employees recruitment.

IAIM Sinjai (08/09)- The Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FTIK) of the Muhammadiyah Islamic Institute (IAIM) Sinjai held an Inaugural Lecture in Odd Semester of Academic Year 2021/2022 at the H.M Amir Said Auditorium IAIM, Wednesday (08/09).

H. Roslan, S.Ag., M.Pd.I. as the Section Chief of the Islamic Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs in Sinjai, said that the current educational resources were not reliable enough to support the achievement of educational goals and targets effectively. It was one of the challenges in the learning system, which should be more focused on, “All components have to make changes and adjustments in the national education system to support the education process more democratic and encourage the participation of the community, including students,” he continued.

The Dean of FTIK IAIM Sinjai, Takdir, M.Pd.I. added that students as academicians should handle the opportunities and challenges of Islamic education implementation in the present times as the topic raised in this inaugural lecture, “The Opportunities and Challenges of Islamic Education Implementation in the New Normal Era.”

“Currently, we are facing the challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, students should be able to overcome these challenges by looking at the opportunities that exist for educational development,” he explained.

Also attended were lecturers and the academic community and hundreds of FTIK students from the Study Programs of Islamic Education, Arabic Language Education, Islamic School Teacher Education, Mathematics Education, and English Language Education. UM Jember Smart Village School Officially Opened

Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember conducted Smart Village School, which officially opened Wednesday (8/9). The Smart Village School was the Faculty of Economics and Business UM Jember program. The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) held this agenda through the Creative Economy and Community Service Development Center (P2EKLM). The agenda was in collaboration with Village Community Empowerment Agency (DPMD) Jember Regency.

The Smart Village School was the partnership implementation between Pemda Jember and Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember. The Rector of UM Jember, Dr. Hanafi, M.Pd. explained the program was one of the responsibilities in Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which is in community services. “Between educating and conducting research,” he said. In the next agenda, there were the education and research fields, FEB contributed in the academics field to accelerate the quality development of village apparatus’ human resources.

Then, Jember Regent Ir. H. Hendy Siswanto explained that it was a form of partnership needed by all parties. “It’s time for Jember to work together, and it needs support from all parties,” he said on the official UM Jember site. Anosmia Chamber of UM Purwokerto students is Registered as Patent

UM Purwokerto students created Bilik Anosmia ‘Anosmia Chamber’ (Bilas) as a simple therapeutic instrument for COVID-19 patients. The innovation helped the patients temporarily lose their smell so that it could be recovered.

The Team leader of the Anosmia Chamber, Sultan Dzikrillah Akbar, explained the anosmia chamber is an instrument made from acrylic, where acrylic is material from transparent polymer plastic in the form of sheets is usually used as the glass substitution. “Because this acrylic material is softer than the usual glass. The anosmia chamber is a connector instrument to do the anosmia therapy, which consists of eucalyptus so that it can ease the quarantined persons (due to COVID-19) to do the anosmia therapy,” he said, Thursday (2/9).

The innovation used improved steam therapy principles so that it is more effective and easy to use. The anosmia chamber is formed as acrylic materials that extend upwards with the width of an adult’s face. At the same time, the therapeutic instrument is an electric pan. “First, the pot is placed in an acrylic chamber. Then pour about 250CC of mineral water, then add 10-15 drops of eucalyptus oil or eucalyptus oil. Then it is heated to produce steam,” said Najwa Safira, one of a volunteer team at the Banyumas Regency Government’s centralized quarantine area.

The steam generated will not spread everywhere because the chamber traps it. After generating the steam, the patient’s therapy is started. The patient inhales the vapor approximately 15 minutes in the morning.

The field supervisor of KKN RCB UMP, Ns. Endiyono, S.Kep., M.Kep explained that the anosmia chamber is registered as an Intellectual Property because this innovation is a work that is the result of thinking that produces a product/process that is beneficial for COVID-19 patients with anosmia therapy. The nation has recognized the innovation according to the applicable regulations. “Temporarily, the anosmia chambers produced are 3 chambers; for the meantime, it has been used in a quarantined center, Pondok Slamet. The Postgraduate School Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) held the orientation for new students who would enter this odd semester in 2021/2022 on Wednesday (4/9). The agenda was conducted offline and online, with a strict health protocol. The orientation aimed to introduce the learning system and method. Shortly, the learning system and method would support the students in preparing for their study in postgraduate.

The director of the UMS postgraduate program, M Farid Wajdi, SE MM Ph.D., explained that the student orientation comprised three doctoral programs and 14 master programs. The doctoral program included Law Science, Sharia Economic Law/ Islamic Law Science, Islamic Studies, Indonesian Education, English Education, Education Administration, Primary School Education, Pharmacy Science, Management, Accountancy, Psychology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. This postgraduate program received 228 students, comprised of 197 master students and 31 doctoral students.

The Rector of UMS, Prof Sofyan Anif MSi, prompted the students to consider charitable science (ilmu amaliah) and scientific charity (amal ilmiah). “Ilmu amaliah means that all knowledge we achieved should be transferred so we are not only have the knowledge, but also can practice the knowledge. Meanwhile, amal ilmiah means all implementation we shared to others according to science,” he said, as reported on the official UMS site.

Universitas Pendidikan Muhammadiyah Sorong sent off two Papuan pride youths last Thursday (2/9). The two youths will follow the Central Training Program in Denpasar, Bali. It was a part of Universitas Pendidikan Muhammadiyah Sorong (UNIMUDA Sorong) effort to realize Papuan youth dreams: a professional football player.

The discharge was attended by the Rector of UNIMUDA Sorong, Dr. Rustamadji, M.Si. “This remarkable program is to develop Papuan youths’ soft skills in Sorong regency. Later, the youths’ transfer will be covered by the campus. During the training, they still undergo the study process. In the implementation, we still support them,” he said.

The Dean of Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP), Nursalim, M.Pd., presented. He continued that after graduating from school, Paul and Soni will continue in UNIMUDA Sorong with a scholarship. In addition, the Head of Physical Education Study Program also presented. The SSB ASKATALA Management of UNIMUDA Sorong also attended the discharge ceremony. Moreover, the best players in SSB ASKATALA U15, Lapex Paul and Soni Maas followed the Central Training Program at Al-Fatih Academy, Denpasar, Bali.

Through this agenda, later, both of them will join the Bali United football club U15. The program was the partnership program between SSB ASKATALA and Al Fatih Academy Denpasar, Bali. The program is the final development under the auspices of the Physical Education Study Program of UNIMUDA Sorong. Besides the development, SSB ASKATALA will also transfer the talented players to the professional agency for later joining into several professional clubs.

This year, Tanwir (pre-congress) Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah themed “Optimistically Tackle COVID-19 to succeed the 48th Muktamar”. The main agenda of Tanwir was to ensure Muktamar (the congress) in Surakarta. Muktamar will be conducted in 2022 as per the plan. Tanwir was held on Saturday (4/9), and Sunday (5/9) organized online and live-broadcasted in Muhammadiyah Youtube account and official social media. President of ‘Aisyiyah Central Board, Dr. Hj Siti Noordjannah Djohantini MM MSi, delivered her speech and President of Muhammadiyah Central Board, Prof Dr. H Haedar Nashir M.Si.

Initially, Siti Noordjannah explained the importance of women’s contribution to the pandemic. She continued that ‘Aisyiyah did not stop at da’wah and had a role amid community. “‘Aisyiyah leaders, cadres, volunteers, and sympathizers always work together. ‘Aisyiyah keeps on building the awareness about COVID-19 based on knowledge and religious views,” she said. She also inferred the importance of solidarity without boundaries. Because of the significant value to strengthening national unity to tackle COVID-19 is essential.

In his speech, Haedar Nashir explained that the diction choice of ‘optimistic’ in the Tanwir theme had a reason. The reason is to highlight the optimistic narration to all of Muhammadiyah members in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic. “The Tanwir theme is “Optimistically Tackle COVID-19 to succeed the 48th Muktamar”. I hope by the optimistic spirit, Tanwir will be carried out well for getting maslahat (benefit) of Muhammadiyah, the people, and the nation,” he said.

He also mentioned that the COVID-19 pandemic is not a partial problem; it is a universal problem. “It means that anybody cannot behave as they please because one another is connected and impactful towards society. The effort to tackle COVID-19 is a collective responsibility,” he added.
